Introduction to the Uses and Benefits of Terpenes

»Posted by on Mar 27, 2018 in Terpenes, Uncategorized | 0 comments

Cannabis plants consist of wide variety of compounds and chemicals. About one hundred forty of these are part of a huge class of terpenes (pronounced as tur-peens) or also known as aromatic organic hydrocarbons. Aside from that, you might have also heard some individuals talk about the terpenoids. The words terpenoid and terpene are common used interchangeably, even though these words are different from each other. As a matter of fact, the primary difference between these two is that the terpenes are hydrocarbons which means that the only elements found there are hydrogen and carbon. While, on the other hand, the terpenoids have been already denatured by oxidation (curing and drying the flowers) or the chemicals have been modified.

In addition to that, the Denver terpenes are produced in secretory cells of cannabis inside the glandular trichomes and the synthetization is raised with some exposure to light. These terpenes are usually found in greater concentrations in an unfertilized female cannabis flowers before the senescence (a process or a condition of aging). The essential oils are produced from plant materials by the process of vaporization or steam distillation. A lot of terpenes vaporize at a similar temperature as the THC (which boils at 157°C), however, most terpenes are more volatile compared to the others. The terpenes also play a very vital role by giving the plant the natural protection from insects, fungus, bacteria and other stresses in the environment.

It’s well established that the cannabis is able to affect a person’s behavior, emotions and mind. The primary psychotropic cannabinoid known as the delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol or the THC has been vigorously studied but still, a lot of the other flavonoids, terpenoids and cannabinoids are found in the therapeutic marijuana which play a large role in increasing its therapeutic effect remain understudied and do not have concrete evidence.

The terpenes are the usual constituents of flagrances and flavorings. Unlike the cannabinoids, the terpenes are responsible for the sweet scent of the cannabis. Other agencies such as the FDA have basically recognized terpenes to be safe. Terpenes act on neurotransmitters and receptors. They are prone to integrate with or melt in fats or lipids. In addition to that, they also act as the serotonin uptake inhibitors (same as Prozac, an antidepressant). They also enhance norepinephrine activities (similar to Elavil, a tricyclic antidepressant).

What are the Flavonoids?

The flavonoids are large nutrient families that are known to most scientist and include more than 6,000 identified family members. About twenty compounds included such as orientin, luteolin, kaempferol, isovitexin, vitexin, β-sitosterol, quercetin, cannflavin A and B (unique to cannabis) and lastly, the apigenin have already been named in the cannabis plants. The flavonoids are well-known for their anti-inflammatory and antioxidant therapeutic effects and also their condition of energetic color to some of the foods we ingest (red in raspberries or blue in blueberries).

Some of the flavonoids that are extracted from a cannabis plant have been proven for pharmacological effects and most of the clinical findings are incredibly promising.

The Pitches, Trusses and Framing of Roofs

»Posted by on Jan 15, 2018 in Framing of Roofs | 0 comments

Whether you’re going to be directly involved in the installation of roofs or you’re just going to tell your requests to the roofer, a basic knowledge about roof design is important. The roofer can give you suggestions but you’re the only one who has the final say because it’s going to be your house anyway. So basically, roofs can be flat (still slightly angled) or pitched (really angled).

You can easily tell the basic design of the roof of your neighbors. Pitched or flat, there are a lot of designs and combination of design elements you can choose from. With the right construction method, which the roofing in Sandy Springs will take care of, you can achieve the roof that your house deserves.

 Framing of Roofs

As a start, let me tell you about the four main designs of the pitched roofs. These are the (1) gabled, (2) hipped, (3) shed and (4) mansard. There are many themes which are built in different ways using different materials. The gabled pitched roof is a piece of wall where the roof slopes around. The hipped is the joint between the roof’s adjacent slopes. If the roof is complicated, it will need several hips. If you prefer simple, you can opt for shed. But mostly it is used on lean-to structures. Finally, the mansard is the modified pitched roofs which create a space in the roof area.

Frames of Pitched Roof

This type of roof design will need lots of frames to support the covering and structure. The two main types of the wooden frames are trussed roof and cut roof. Most of the time they are combined to achieve the complexity of the roofing.

Cut Roof Frame

All roofs are basically “cut”, the carpenters cut during the construction. Some of the roof’s weight would be transferred to internal loadbearing walls to cover some spans. It is laborious, but still it is constructed even up to these days.

Common Trussed Roof Frame

These are manufactured by special companies because of their complexities. It is often referred to as A-frames, which combines joists, rafters and jacks. Because of technology, trusses are made slimmer than the cut roof. The stresses and loading requirements can now be calculated. Trusses are also available in different sizes and shapes to suit the roofing’s various needs.

Like mentioned, trusses are manufactured in different sizes and designs. Some designs are for a particular type of roof or structural need. Some of the common types of truss roofs are room-in-attic, scissor, clerestory, and triple howe.

Types of Roof Systems

There are two basic types of roof systems, they are the truss frame and stick frame. The truss frame uses pre-built woods to build the frame. You need to be familiar of the pitch of the roof to be able to successfully build the roof system. The stick frame uses dimensional and ordinary lumber to create the frame and system.

This information is just basic. It would be easy for you to familiarize them. But most especially, you should trust your roofer because they are skilled in this job. They know all about the pitches, the frames and the designs.

The Effects of Fire to Environment

»Posted by on Jan 12, 2018 in Fire to Environment | 0 comments

One of the most tragic events that people don’t want to experience is fire. The damage is huge and restoration will take long. It’s not the property which is damaged; it also has damages to people’s health and environment. Take the California wildfire for example; the fire damage impacted the environment and the wildlife. There is a recorded 100,000 wildfire in the US alone, which destroyed over 9 million acres of land. Fire is deadly; once it’s not stopped it’s going to destroy infrastructure and wildlife. In this article, we will focus more on the environmental damage brought by fire.

Wildfires commonly occurred in wildland areas, but they can also affect agricultural resources and houses if it’s fast spreading and near the towns. Global warming is one of the top reasons why wildfire happens, greenhouse gas emissions are increased.

Effects of Wildfire

1. Takes Away Wildlife and Vegetation

After a great wildlife like the current one, inhabitants of wildlife became homeless, and they got nowhere to go. An immense wildlife also affects home and vegetation. Millions of dollars are spent for the fire damage restoration especially if it affected a large area. Vegetation becomes obsolete especially if a farm is near the wildfire. Re-building the homes and taking care of the areas of vegetation will take a lot of time and money.

2. Soil is Destroyed

Once a wildfire takes over the land, the soil is completely destroyed. We all know that the soils in the wildlife are composed of natural ingredients like decaying debris and nutrients that help the trees and plants grow. Once the wildfire affects the soil, the nutrients are gone. It will take years to fertilize the soil again and grow some plants in the area.

3. Kills Animals

One of the most devastated in these tragic times is the animals. It is sad, but it’s a fact that once wildfire hits the forest, the inhabitants don’t only lose homes, most of them also die. If there are too many animals that die in wildfire, it affects the balance of our ecosystem.  4

4. Dead Trees and Plants

Obviously, if there’s a wildfire, almost all the plants and trees are gone. Aside from the inhabitants, the plants are also greatly affected. It makes the area a dead place. It also affects the oxygen level of the area. The less plants and trees we have, the less clean air we breathe. So if the destruction

5. Soil Erosion

When firefighters rescue and try to put out the fire, they will use a lot of water to do it effectively. Wildfire is not the same with those house fires, so rescuers will really use many resources to put out the water. Too much water in the soil will lead to erosion, making most of the area more difficult to restore.

6. Air Pollution

The fire creates smoke, and those large amounts of smokes are releases into the air which is a cause of air pollution. Smoke and ash can affect the people’s health, especially those who suffer from allergies.

Cleaning Solutions and How to Remove Carpet Stains

»Posted by on Sep 22, 2017 in Carpet Stains | 0 comments

Carpets are one of the best furnishings we have; we enjoy having them in our house because they give us lots of benefits. Carpets give a feeling of luxury, as we enjoy taking comfort in its soft fibers. Carpets also make our home interiors look better, they complement the colors of our walls, and they provide extra design if they contain patterns or images.

Having a carpet at home, however, contains a condition, that we have to clean and maintain them always. Carpets are vulnerable to dirt and stains, and we must remove them as best as we can so that our carpets will remain clean and look good. To help you in this task, I will share to you a list of cleaning solutions and how to remove carpet stains.

Carpet Stains

Remove Stains Immediately

The main secret of removing stains on your carpet is to remove it immediately, not as soon as possible, but immediately. This is because if you wait for later and leave the substance in the carpet, then it will set in deeper and it will be much harder to remove it.

Dab Don’t rub

One mistake that people commonly do in removing stains is they try to rub it off the carpet. This is a huge no-no, rubbing would apply pressure into the stain and the stain will get deeper and it would also be harder to remove it. Instead of rubbing, try the method of dabbing, which involves touching the stain lightly and then lifting the cloth repeatedly.

Make Cleaning Solutions

The ease in which you would remove stains off the carpet would largely depend on your cleaning solutions. I will share to you substances that you can use as your cleaning solution, feel free to try them each and determine which works best.

This may seem ridiculous, but beer is an excellent stain remover, especially if the source of stain came from a tea or coffee. Apply small amounts of beer into a piece of clean cloth and then dab the area of stain. After removing the stain, it is important to also remove traces of the beer, unless you want your rug to smell of alcohol.

Ammonia is a strong cleaning solution that is often used in cleaning the bathroom, but this substance can also be used in your carpets. Just dilute the power of ammonia by only using one cup of it and then combining it with two liters of warm water. This cleaning solution is potent enough to remove any stains, apply it by using the same method of dabbing.

Another substance that is excellent for removing stains is vinegar. For lighter stains, you can concoct a cleaning solution made of equal parts vinegar and water; for darker ones, add two tablespoons of borax in a cup of the cleaning mixture.

These are the stain removing techniques and cleaning solutions you can use to remove that annoying stain. If you have done it without success, you can visit this website and contact excellent professionals to do the removal for you.
